Jheronimus Bosch

Jheronimus Bosch lived in ’s‑Hertogenbosch at the time of the Middle Ages (±1450-1516). In this city he created his works for patrons from all over Europe. His paintings depicted the life, the views and conduct of fifteenth-century Europeans. A time when religion was important and Bosch portrayed themes such as temptation, sin and justification in his very own way in his paintings full of delusions and hallucinations, surrealistic nightmares and visions.
Today, five centuries after Bosch’s death, the works by this artist are on display in renowned museums all over the world where they inspire visitors, artists and scientists.
